Legal Assistant
The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee has an opening for a legal assistant. The position will become available on April 8,2013. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school and have experience equivalent to two (2) to four (4) years of increasingly responsible full-time secretarial or administrative work as a legal secretary or educational equivalent such as Paralegal Certification, Associate’s degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies or current Certified Professional Secretary designation. The position is located in Brentwood.
The position requires a knowledge of administrative principles, legal practices and terminology, office practices and procedures; an ability to prioritize work according to general deadlines; proficiency in computer and word processing skills, including Microsoft Office and Word; and the ability to maintain confidences due to the highly confidential nature of the work of the Board.
Duties include creating and maintaining effective filing and tracking systems; maintaining databases as assigned; performing a variety of administrative duties involving information compilation, monitoring and routine research; conveying and receiving information to and from staff, attorneys, Courts and the general public, by telephone and by correspondence; working independently to assist attorneys with keeping correspondence current; and performing other duties as required.
