Business Analyst

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is looking for a self-motivated and analytical professional to join the organization as a Business Analyst.  The Business Analyst should possess the skills necessary to act as a liaison between the Information Technology Department and the business end-users of the judiciary.  Under general supervision of the IT Manager of the PMO (Project Management Office), a successful candidate will be able to work with staff to produce business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, create user stories, document business scenarios, create process flows, create training materials as needed, and train users using a variety of training methods.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Identify, access, and document business and functional requirements
  • Prepare and/or review end user documentation, training materials, curriculum, and schedule.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Conduct training sessions in both large group and individual training environments.
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders for requirements development.
  • In conjunction with functional users, develop business process alternatives.
  • Provide support for the installation, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of information systems
  • Test applications for adherence to stakeholder requirements.
  • Develop documentation using standard office automation tools.
  • Document current and future state processes to facilitate validation of solution accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend meetings and perform administrative duties related to assisting the agency in identifying process improvements and technology solutions.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to ask leading questions and analyze the business impact on proposed solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to train users on new system features and translate a system process into a business process.
  • Experience with the Waterfall Methodology
  • Experience with the Agile Methodology and Scrum Framework
  • Experience working with project tracking tools such as Jira

Education / Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Sciences and Technology, Business Analysis and Management, Business Analytics and Information Technology or other related degree and one year of professional level experience in business process analysis, computer systems implementation, or business information systems. Experience working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.  Experience with court operations and business processes preferred.

Substitutions of Experience for Education: Professional level experience in business process analysis, computer systems implementation, or business information systems may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s Degree on a year for year basis.
